Membership
Craig called meeting to order. Reviewed minutes from September 16, 2008. Heidi approved minutes, Megan seconded, motion carries.
Cheryl Robert read aloud Standing Rules for 2008-2009. Stephan Ray motioned to approve, Anne Hudson seconded, motion carries.
Sun School
Annie Turtura spoke about a change in the registration process for next term. Hoping changes will make it more efficient. The process will be registering with Annie in person.
Officer reports
Presidents Report
Carnival coming up on November 14th. Volunteers and donations needed.
Clothing Center needs 4 volunteers to cover our shift on October 23rd.
Vice President Report
Bulb sale a successful fundraiser.
Poinsettia and Wreath sale coming up.
Cookie Dough Fundraiser — lead person needed. Robin Peterson is willing to help but not lead.
A Children?s Place will donate 10% of the proceeds from sales on November 20th. Person must state that they are from Roseway Heights.
Gloria clarified where the profits from the Gift Wrap Fundraiser will go.
Treasurer Report
Allison presented the Proposed Budget. Heidi motions to approve, Chris seconds, motion carries and Budget approved.
Allison presented Financial Report for October 2008 and Financial Report Summary of Activity.
Jackie Nahorney nominated Donna Hamlin for co Treasurer. Some concern was expressed because Donna?s child is an 8th grader and will not be attending Roseway Heights next year. Membership accepted her nomination and approved her as co Treasurer.
Stephanie Koenig motions to approve Financial Reports, Mary Dingle seconded, motion carries.
Membership Report
Heidi reports PTA has 104 members. Heidi clarifies that only members can vote. Membership can sponsor others .
Volunteers Report
Books have been made with a list of people that have been approved to volunteer. Each teacher will have a copy.
Still need 2 store managers.
Virginia spoke about Grade Level Liaisons. This position is to communicate with the grade levels and present their needs to PTA.
Room parents still needed.
Virginia and Jackie have 12 volunteers to help with the year book. In years past there hasn?t been a committee, Gloria Daniels has just been the lead on it. This year Virginia and Jackie would like to have the yearbook done by a committee.
Margorie Anderson is planning on having a Painting party on October 24th to paint the stage walls.
Ongoing and Unfinished Business
New Business
Heidi Marmen Community Outreach Coordinator Nov. 2 Sunday there will be a Community Care Day from 2:00 – 4:00 pm.
Heidi told membership that Cliff Vogel?s class will take on the responsiblility of building the benches for the playground.
Dumpsters will be painted throughSun School art this Spring
Heidi is also working on a Community Outreach Pilot Program. Advertisement for our school since it is so new as a K-8. Slogans are needed.
Megan Peters presented a fundraising opportunity through the Beaumont Business District. They are setting up a once a month evening event similar to a First Thursday kind of thing. They would like to sponsor a school and in turn we can promote the event and businesses?. Allison Johnson and Anne Fetters volunteered to take the lead on this.
Julie Hunt spoke representing Paths to our Past. Various fundraisers in the works please check with her for the various fundraisers going on.
Principal Mary?s Report
Continuing to have a good Fall. Up 28 kids from what the district projected.
Molly Frisch has been hired full time to help with the Kindergarten classes and Teacher Ann and Ms. Shenker?s classes. She was hired because of our larger Kindergarten numbers. So as not to disrubt the classes that have already been established, she is offering intense support to these classes rather than creating her own class.
Vice Principal Willa?s Report
Panther Pride is up and running. They are attempting to take on the events that Mr. Krohn used to plan.
